Words of wisdom
Pause
I’ve gathered up my memories
My prejudice, my pride
I’ve wandered through these
hallowed halls
I’ve spoken, I have lied
I’ve suffered in a silence
While my father clipped my
wings
I’ve screamed my agony while
God stood quiet, listening
I’ve sown my wanton wisdom
And I’ve raised the cane result
I’ve played the unsuspecting
And I’ve lost by my default
I’ve wanted fools forsaken
And I’ve shunned the noble
men
I’ve shed the tears of sadness,
madness,
Hopelessness and then . .
.
I’ve seen my soul reflected
In the window through the
rain
Twisted, warped with rivulets
Of sorrow and of pain
Persuasion
Are you crying
luminescent droplets
Reviving poets’
despondent couplets
Gazing at the
darkness through your lashes
Feeling fire
lapping at your ashes
In your dying
breath does you soul depart
Whispering untold
laments of your heart?
Awaken, gaze
upon the beauty rare
Allay your fear,
steal back the ferry fare
Cast off the
gloom of Hades’ caterwauls
And clothe yourself
with Nature’s vernal shawls.
Deny the greedy
grasp of twilight’s groom
Resist the journey
leading you from home
Evade the enigmatic
shadow’s creep
Disavow the summons
of devils deep
Grab the rope
and pull your vessel ashore
To knock once
more on Carpe Diem’s door
Do not go gentle
into death, good knight
“Rage, rage against
the dying of the light.”
